“Invisible” (RED edit) – U2

Standard

It’s like the room just cleared of smoke
I didn’t even want the heart you broke
It’s yours to keep
You just might need one

I finally found my real name
I won’t be me when you see me again
No, I won’t be my father’s son

I’m more than you know
I’m more than you see here
More than you let me be
I’m more than you know
A body in a soul
You don’t see me but you will
I am not invisible

That’s right
I’m leaving the invisible world

I don’t dream, not as such
I don’t even think about you that much
Unless I start to think at all

All those frozen days
And your frozen ways
They melt away your face like snow

I’m more than you know
I’m more than you see here
I’m more than you let me be
I’m more than you know
A body in a soul
You don’t see me but you will
I am not invisible
I am here

There is no them
There is no them
There’s only us
There’s only us
There is no them
There is no them
There’s only us
There’s only us
There is no them
There is no them
There’s only you
And there’s only me
There is no them

so, I rode down on the elevator this morning with a mom and her 14 year old twin sons. when the door opened, we discovered that 3 more of their friends, all 14 year old boys, were already on the elevator. apparently they’re in town for a hockey game.

the boys had already pushed all of the buttons so the elevator would stop at each floor on the way down. we started on the fourth floor, so no biggie. they’re 14.

the mom started yelling at the other kids, demanding to know why they pushed all of the buttons. they replied that they did it because they were bored. DUH.

she kept looking at me with apologetic eyes. THEN she started telling the group of them that she HATED them. she turned to me and told me that they’re all jerks and that she HATES them. to which I replied, “well, we all were 14.” poor kids.

I got all the way to the terminal to discover my car key in my pocket. I flagged down a Parking Spot shuttle and gave my key to the driver. then I realized that it’s likely that the key in my pocket is the duplicate key so they now have two keys. drama.

the past 17 months have certainly been anything but “normal.” lots of starts, stops and whathaveyous, but I have finally realized that there are no right answers, just different choices. and with that, I am off and running. well, walking really, I’m so not a runner, literally speaking. So, today, I am excited and nervous, but feel very prepared. Like the Girl Scout that I am.
